Terms of Service

Effective September 2, 2026 · Last updated September 3, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Mestrio Stream Server (the “App”), the official documentation website, and related materials. The App is provided by Robin Wang under the Mestrio brand (“Mestrio,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

1. Agreement to these Terms

By installing, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App. If you use the App for an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms for that organization.

You must be legally capable of entering this agreement and meet the minimum age required in your location.

2. What the App provides

The App enables an Android device to operate and manage a network-accessible media server. Features may include protocol listeners, live stream ingest, pull and republish jobs, RTP and SRT transport, WHIP/WHEP and WebRTC workflows, GB28181 surveillance integration, media source inspection, file import and distribution, recording, playback verification, session monitoring, TLS, and access control.

The App primarily relays already encoded media. Unless a feature explicitly says otherwise, it does not promise to transcode unsupported codecs, make private networks publicly reachable, configure NAT or firewalls, establish certificate trust, or guarantee compatibility with every camera, encoder, player, network, or service.

3. Limited license

Subject to these Terms and any applicable app-store rules, we grant you a limited, personal or internal-business, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control for lawful purposes.

You may not copy, sell, rent, lease, redistribute, sublicense, bypass entitlement controls, remove proprietary notices, or use the App to create a competing hosted service except where applicable law or an open-source license expressly permits the relevant activity. Open-source components remain governed by their own licenses.

4. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for:

5. Acceptable use

You must not use the App to:

We may refuse support or restrict access to online resources where reasonably necessary to address misuse, legal obligations, or security threats.

6. Your media, files, and credentials

You retain rights you hold in media, files, messages, and configuration that you process with the App (“Your Content”). You grant us no ownership of Your Content merely by processing it locally.

You grant the App the device-level permissions needed to perform actions you request, such as reading a selected file, creating a recording, serving media to a connected client, or sending a stream to a configured endpoint. You represent that you have all rights and permissions needed for Your Content and these actions.

The App is not a backup service. Files may be lost through device failure, storage cleanup, interrupted recording, provider revocation, operating-system behavior, user action, or software defects. Keep independent copies of important media.

7. Network and security operation

Starting the server can make your Android device reachable to other clients according to the listeners and network routes you enable. You understand and accept the risks of opening ports, including unauthorized access, traffic consumption, battery use, device heating, storage growth, and exposure of media.

8. One-time purchases and paid features

The App provides core local-server and streaming-protocol capabilities without a purchase. Mestrio Pro is an optional, non-consumable lifetime unlock for higher operating limits, automation, extended monitoring, configuration management, and advanced security controls. It is not an automatically renewing subscription. The App displays the price and included features before purchase.

Payment, taxes, family or account eligibility, restoration, and refunds may be processed by the applicable app store and are also governed by its terms. Pro access is granted only after the App locally verifies a completed store purchase; a pending, cancelled, mismatched, or revoked purchase does not grant access. A verified purchase may be restored on another eligible device using the same store account and may remain available offline for a limited grace period. Except where applicable law or store policy requires otherwise, completed digital purchases are non-refundable.

If entitlement verification is temporarily unavailable, the App may use the last locally verified entitlement. Refunds, chargebacks, account changes, fraud decisions, or store revocation may remove Pro access. Existing local configuration is retained when access changes, but creating or starting paid-capability work may be limited.

9. Third-party services and software

The App can interoperate with third-party cameras, encoders, media servers, signaling services, network equipment, file providers, players, email apps, and Firebase services. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, availability, security, compatibility, terms, or privacy practices.

The App includes or depends on third-party and open-source software. Applicable license notices remain controlling for those components. References to a protocol or third-party product do not imply endorsement, partnership, certification, or guaranteed interoperability.

10. Updates, changes, and availability

We may add, change, limit, suspend, or remove features, protocol support, documentation, or online resources. Updates may be necessary for security, Android compatibility, Firebase compatibility, codec behavior, or app-store requirements. Older versions may stop receiving fixes or may not work with updated external services.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted background operation. Android and device manufacturers can restrict foreground services, networking, battery use, notifications, process lifetime, or storage access.

11. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App, documentation, website, and support are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, quiet enjoyment, accuracy, security, compatibility, availability, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

We do not warrant that:

Not for safety-critical use. Do not rely on the App as the sole system for emergency response, life safety, medical care, physical security, legal evidence preservation, or any operation where delay, corruption, or failure could cause serious harm.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so portions of this section may not apply to you. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Robin Wang and Mestrio will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of media, recordings, data, revenue, profits, business, goodwill, or opportunity; device or network damage; unauthorized access; surveillance claims; or the cost of substitute services, arising from or related to the App, even if advised that such damage is possible.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims related to the App will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the App during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim or (b) USD 10. This limitation does not apply where liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.

13. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Robin Wang and Mestrio from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and reasonable costs arising from Your Content, your configured endpoints or users, your violation of these Terms, your violation of law or third-party rights, or your unauthorized surveillance, recording, access, or distribution. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from our own conduct for which indemnity cannot lawfully be required.

14. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the App and uninstall it at any time. We may end or restrict your license or access to online resources if you materially violate these Terms, create a security or legal risk, misuse support or infrastructure, or if continued provision is no longer reasonably possible.

On termination, the license granted under these Terms ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, dispute terms, and accrued obligations—will survive.

15. Applicable law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws that apply to the provider and transaction, without overriding mandatory consumer protections available in your place of residence. Before starting formal proceedings, you agree to contact us and make a reasonable good-faith effort to resolve the issue informally, unless urgent relief or applicable law makes that inappropriate.

If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, jurisdiction and venue will be determined under applicable law. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from using a consumer-protection authority, small-claims process, or another forum that cannot lawfully be waived.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms for product, legal, operational, or security reasons. The effective and last-updated dates identify the current version. If a material change requires notice or consent under applicable law, we will provide it through an appropriate channel. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.
